Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, document, implement and administer the necessary security policies and procedures to cost-effectively protect the College's Information Technology infrastructure from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure or destruction. Understands regulatory requirements, has in-depth knowledge of industry standards and trends, and is proficient with the latest cybersecurity software. Act as the project leader in collecting system profiles, backup procedures, restore procedures, and all other pertinent data for the IT Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan. Liaison to 3rd party IT security services.

  • Prepare and update the IT Business Continuity and the Disaster Recovery Plan including system profiles, and recovery procedures for all systems which adequately addresses the organization's requirements and established time frames.
  • Coordinate and report on the progress of all IT Incident/Disaster Recovery efforts within the IT department, with internal stakeholders, and applicable third parties.
  • Manage relationship and operations with all internal and third-party IT security related partners.
  • Analyze internal and external systems to identify potential security risks and determine how to best address these threats.
  • Prepare and update security policies, procedures, and controls that address the Institution's security requirements.
  • Deploy, educate, and train College personnel about security policies and procedures.
  • Monitor/audit the effectiveness of security policies and procedures and the ability of organization personnel to follow them, and make changes as appropriate.
  • Monitor developing and new local, state, and federal regulations that apply to college business and determine how they affect the policies and procedures of the supporting IT environment, and update or create new college policies and procedures as needed to bring the supporting IT environment into compliance.
  • Manage the policies and procedures for assigning and modifying all computer system access account, user application, network, and e-mail accounts.
  • Participate in professional activities or seminars to keep current in IT Security and Contingency Planning activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or a related field; Master's degree a plus
      • Security industry certifications like CISSP, CISA, CBCP preferred.
    • Experience
      • Five+ years experience in computer contingency planning, application security, information risk assessment, developing security threat solutions or similar areas required. Experience may be substituted for education required.
      • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to handling information, including FERPA and Payment Card Industry/Data Security Standard (PCI).
      • Proficiency with firewalls, endpoint security, mobility management, and vulnerability scanning.


    Working Conditions:

  • Computers and related peripherals with associated application systems.
  • Administrative office, varied working hours with 24/7 availability.
  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including computer, office equipment, telephone, etc.
  • Physical demands include sedentary work, campus meetings, and day and overnight travel.
  • Tasks may require extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
  • This position requires a background check and drug screen.


  • Hiring Range: Managerial 8 Salary/110,000.00 - 118,000.00

    Competitive starting pay is dependent on education and experience.
